Overview:
Wow, was this project ever time-consuming, but I'm glad it's finally finished! Our assignment was to create a drawing of a reflective piece, while it being reflective of ourselves, and our personal life at the same time. We were also told to use Prismacolors, which is one of my favorite (if not my most favorite) mediums to work with. I decided to draw a camera because I have a big connection to photography. I have been taking picture for as long as I can remember, and most of my family members also love to take pictures (especially my grandpa). I wanted to honor him, but I also wanted to add pictures to signify childhood memories that I have captured over the years.

Planning:
To me, planning was the most difficult part, and for a while I was unsure about what I wanted to do for this project. I had a few other ideas, but the camera stuck out to me the most. I wasn't sure how I wanted to portray my idea, whether it was of me holding a camera, or just a close-up picture of one. I eventually decided I wanted to do a camera with pictures around it. I also had to decide which kind of paper I wanted to use; gray or blue. I decided to use the blue paper because I really liked how it looked during the practice.
In progress/final:
I think that my piece is somewhat successful, and I've realized that I need to give myself more credit than I actually do. I spent quite a bit of time on this project, but still see so much that can be done. For future projects I need to spend less time making it look "perfect", and just be confident in the work I've done.
One obstacle I came across was the texture of the paper that I used. One side is more textured, and gives the drawing a more rigid look. I personally like my prisma drawings to look smooth, so I ended up restarting on the other side of the paper. My favorite part about the piece is the side of the camera, right next to the lens. I really like how it looks gradated, and the blending of colors is decent.
One area I need to improve on is my time management. I need to hurry up a bit, and not worry so much about every single detail.
I would say I definitely learned how to use colors I normally wouldn't think about, and learned not to rely on black so much. Most of the time I used dark browns and blues to create the black look, and I think I did a good job with that.
If I could do anything different, I would possibly do a completely different idea. Two other people did drawings of cameras, and the idea started to become trite because most people thought about drawing a camera.
Overall, my project is growing on me, and I am starting to like it a bit more.
